Caitlin Saunders is a screenwriter and storyteller in Los Angeles. As a writing coach specializing in college essays, Caitlin wants to help
you tell your story


With a strength and passion for telling undeniable stories, Caitlin brings over a decade of visual and written storytelling experience to her work as a writing coach.

Daughter of acclaimed writer and MFA professor, George Saunders, Caitlin has been a student of writing and storytelling since childhood, and was raised in the academic world.Her upbringing often exposed her to disparate realities, and these experiences made her a keen and curious observer of the world and its unexpected intersections.

She earned her BFA in Photography from NYU Tisch before transitioning to writing and has a uniquely visual and literary style.

She has credits on shows like VALOR, FOUNDATION, and RAISED BY WOLVES, and has done development work with studios and producers. Most recently, she was a Co-Producer for Netflix Animation.  Her first feature is out to directors with Imagine Entertainment.

With a strength and passion for telling undeniable stories, Caitlin’s work often utilizes genre to explore grounded stories that prioritize humanity and heart. She is a master of story structure, world building, and character-based narrative, and her work in writers rooms has only strengthened her abilities as a collaborative storyteller.

  • Through my work with various tutoring companies (NovaStarPrep, 826LA, etc) I discovered a passion for helping young adults craft undeniable college admissions essays.

    In helping your student through the college essay process, I hope to give them a life-long confidence in their ability to understand, distill, and convey who they are to the outside world.

    I will work with your student to help them excavate and understand their unique story.

    Much like a writers room, this is a collaborative creative experience. Together, we will brainstorm and craft an undeniably compelling admissions essay that highlights your student’s POV, their passions, and their growth potential - and paint a compelling portrait of who your child is, not just as a student and a learner, but as a desirable addition to any educational community.

    With student essays, I can help your student through every stage of the process. Beginning with brainstorming sessions, where we will work together to gather the elements we’d like to highlight, including images, experiences, accolades, challenges, aspirations, personal traits, and more.

    Once we have agreed upon a loose arena or outline for your student’s essay, they will begin writing on their own. Your student will draft their essay armed with confidence,  knowing what aspects of themselves they’d like most to highlight. From there, we will work together to read and refine multiple drafts, until the essay shines - and they’re ready to apply!

    I am always honored to help young adults shape their future and find their path, and hope that along the way we are able to build a joy and confidence in their own ability to show the world who they are through their writing.
